The exhibition is introduced through the words of the curator, Niccolò Giacomazzi:

“The artist presents bodies immersed in padded, domestic interiors, where comfort ceases to be a promise and becomes an obstacle. Mattresses, armchairs, and fabrics merge with the figure, at times offering support, at others a void, as if the room possessed its own gravity. The male subjects inhabiting Zambello’s paintings seem to discover a desire and are in search of an otherness. In this process I end up sinking everywhere, where proximity to things also becomes a motive for surrender. The various textures of the floors, the weaves and patterns of the sheets take part in the creation of a real imaginary, while the bodies appear almost stripped of emphasis, drained and weakened. Light, too, works by subtraction. It inhabits the shadows and fades at the edges, blurring skin and furnishings. This otherness is always present, even if opaque, and arises from a circumscribed intimacy that becomes comprehensible only by passing through the body itself”.

The gallery becomes the stage for an intimate, everyday narrative set between the bedroom and the walk-in wardrobe. As the protagonist leaves this environment, he decides to rid himself of everything he perceives as oppressive: furniture, clothes, and his own works are uploaded onto an online resale platform (Vinted).

The former butcher’s shop at Via Garibaldi 1830 thus transforms once again to accompany the works of Jacopo Zambbello, constructing the exhibition’s narrative together with them and adhering to the artist’s installation-based vision, in which the space itself becomes a co-protagonist.

Working with a language that moves between painting and drawing, Zambello addresses

themes of perception and aims to bring out the impossibility of a single, univocal

understanding of reality.

As he himself states: “This perceptual fracture generates a sense of

“horror vacui”, highlighting the paradoxical presence of a common thread that connects the

multiple human experiences. This research feeds on dialogue with psychology, neurology, and literature—authors such as Borges, Inoue, and Kawabata—as well as cinema and other narrative media.”

Sprofonda ovunque thus takes shape as an immersive and sensitive experience, in which space, bodies, and surfaces work together to convey a layered vision of intimacy and perception. A journey that invites the viewer to linger in that opaque and unstable zone where the body becomes measure, filter, and the very site of vision.
